Intrigued by the idea of creating a DIY mannequin out of packing tape, the artist wrapped her own body and then documented the process of leaving that shell behind.
The work records a slow, uncomfortable process: wrapping the body in packing tape until it holds its own shape, cutting it open, and stepping out of it — leaving the hollow form standing on its own.
What remains is a mold, a body without a body, and a powerful metaphor of socially constructed femininity: the shape we are asked to fit into, kept upright by nothing but tape.
