The inaugural exhibition at PELOTA Gallery, hosted by Bay Padel, curated by Florencia Montefalcone.
Puedo Ser una Pelota brought together Alberto Hamonet, Valentin Gattica, Andrew Sungtaek and Montefalcone herself, each exploring the theme of games and balls through their own lens.
Hamonet, a recent MFA graduate from UC Davis, captured the essence of a life spent in pursuit of the perfect hit. Gattica, an Argentine painter based in San Francisco, reflected on the social and cultural weight of the ball in Argentine soccer culture. Sungtaek, a Bay Area artist and nephew of elite professional pickleball players, explored the transformative power of play. Montefalcone examined the harmony between passive and dynamic contemplation through ball sports and teamwork.
The exhibition invited viewers to contemplate the essence of embodying a ball — always ready to play — celebrating the ball as a symbol of shared experience and cultural connection.
